We leave Provo around 9pm and get into Vegas late and crash at my mom and dad's house.
June 11th
Wake up at our leisure and drive to Huntington... get a little lost.. a lot stuck in traffic... and finally make it to Gallagher's Pub. It was a fun show. Candlelight (Jeremy) was very gracious and set up the show for us. He played an acoustic set. The highlight of the whole even was getting 20 loonies for a CD. That night we stayed at Banks' house. Banks is Russell's cousin. Midway through the trip Banks and I figured out that we had actually hung out before back when I first moved to Provo. Banks is an interesting character. We were all hanging out at his house the next day, watching Julian's music video he was editing. Banks walks in the room a little frantic but still disregarding caution, turns to Russell and says, "Have you seen that... plastic penis that was around here?" Walks out. Everyone looks at each other and laughs. Those teen movies about rich kids are based in some reality after all.

June 12--
I spent that night in LA at my sister Jennie's house. I was really tired... I needed a shower. I took one and then Cora and I had a sleep over. She told me plenty of stories until too late and wanted to pretend to be sisters even though she knew that we were really just niece/aunt.
June 13--
I went with Jennie to take Tyler and Cora to school. I met Cora and Tyler's teachers and had some good stares given to me by some Cora and Tyler's peers. I think Cora brought me for show and tell but Tyler was a little more happy to show the seashells and starfish that I transported from Mom's house to Jennie. Jennie had written on the box of sea collectibles as a child: "Jennie's. If found return to her. D-1." Jennie told me D-1 was her classroom in the first-or-so grade.
After the drop off we took Cora back to Rosa, the babysitter and then Jennie went to have a facial in Burbank. I got a falafel pita, looked at clothing at nearby shops: "It's a Wrap" clothing shop [they resale clothes from movie sets], two other vintage stores, and a thrift shop. After Jennie's facial was over she bought me some sort of fruit elixir drink [hers was better than me- as she kindly noted ;)]. They were both really yummy. We talked about movies in the car ride back to check up on Sadie: the degradation of certain types of film (especially comedy) and the importance of storytelling in society.
Then we watched her Boob documentary. I like a lot of things about it. I would restructure things a little bit and throw out one or two characters and add maybe one or two different voices. But overall I think it is an important film-- some of the characters had stuck with me from when I saw it before my mission. [It was the last film I saw before my mission. Just imagine my answer when I was on splits and everyone was in her futon ready for bed. Sister missionary: "So Sister Thomas {トーマス姉妹} what was the last movie you saw before your mission?" Me: "Do you know who Melanie Charms is?"]
I really love the older couple-- the wife who gets breast cancer in one breast and has a double mastectomy and is completely supported by her husband. I really hated (but recognized the importance of including) the weaselly man who obsessed with his wife getting breast implants, insisting that she wanted them to improve her self esteem. Once again, I like the film and like it as a social documentary.
Later that day we picked up Tyler and Cora and went swimming for a while. Ate cheese and mustard sandwiches. Took showers. Cora helped me get ready. I hadn't shave for a few days and quite naturally she asked me, "Aunt Rebecca... Why do you have whiskers on your legs?" Damn the Bringhursts.
Jennie dropped me off at The Pehr Space later (quite a feet considering the kids were tired and the traffic a mess-- I'm eternally grateful to her) and we played to the fashionistas of LA. Drew was very kind to us and gave us the money he made from the venue for gas money. It was almost $5 in S. California so we were thankful to those who helped. After the show we drove to Vegas. Arrival: 5 am.

June 14------
Will took me cliff jumping at Lake Mead. My bandmates were pooped and slept in... some catching up on work and some swimming. When I got back we all went and got NYC pizza on Sahara and Jones and then headed to Zia Records. Wasn't too big of a crowd. I was happy Will, Josh, Zully, Romy, Sophia and came. Will's friends came too. Some other patrons of the record shop came and listened and we gave them CDs. Romy, Will, and I danced to Forest World's set.
After the show we went to the Redrock Casino and hung out. We came home and slept and drove home on Sunday.
I had a lot of catching up to do at work. I start school on Monday. I'm taking Media Arts History 2 and Writing in the Social Sciences. I also went to the podiatrist. I'm having surgery on my right foot on August 1.
Today I went to work and filmed an interview with a graduate student. Mike (my co-worker) and I made a temporary outline of the first half of the documentary. It's exciting to finally start piecing the film together. I search for a good motion graphics designer that will work for $12/hr continues (time to start weeding through students).
I'm also trying to get the rights to some of the late Leslie Norris' poetry and short stories. I want to adapt them and pitch them to BYUB. They should have a vested interest since Norris was BYU's poet-in-residence. I love his work. He actually came to my short-story-writing class in November of 2005 and talked to us, although I think the combination of his age and slowness of speech kept our eyes [and ears] a little glazed over. Nonetheless, his story "Some Opposites of Good" has been a powerful story in my life. I've been contacting professors, writing emails, and starting to form a budget and creative team the last three days. I'm excited to be excited about another project.
I think Will is coming on Tuesday. That should be fun.
Bret is sitting on the couch. Chachaing. Chacha for now.

I love that you now consider yourself Becca Lou - I always thought that might be a tag you didn't particularly embrace! Sound like a busy life - good luck on the author documentary - I love that idea!
